Academy FAQ

Everything you need to know about your monthly cohort leaderboard.

The Academy answers the question everyone has when they start training seriously: am I on track? Not compared to elite athletes, but compared to people who started at the same time as you. Your cohort is your peer group - people at the same stage of their journey, competing across three categories every month.

The Three Leaderboards

CategoryWhat it measures
ConsistencyHow often you hit your planned workouts - reliability over the month
IntensityHow hard you train relative to your own personal baseline
MomentumYour week-over-week volume trend - are you building or declining?

Getting Started

What is the Academy?

The Academy is your monthly cohort leaderboard. Everyone who starts Axis Echo in the same month is grouped together into a cohort. You compete on three leaderboards - consistency, intensity, and momentum - against people who are at the same stage of their training journey as you.

How am I assigned to a cohort?

Automatically, at sign-up. If you join in February, you're in the February cohort (AXIS-FEB). Your cohort membership is permanent - you always belong to the month you joined, regardless of when you train.

Do I need to sign up for the Academy?

No. If Social mode is enabled, you're automatically visible on your cohort leaderboard. There's nothing to configure.

Rankings and Scoring

How do I qualify for a ranking?

You need to log at least 4 workouts in the calendar month. Fewer than 4 and you show as unranked for that month - you can still view the leaderboard, you just won't have a position.

What are the three leaderboard categories?

Consistency - how often you hit your planned workouts. Intensity - how hard you're training relative to your own baseline. Momentum - your week-over-week volume trend. You're ranked independently on each, so you might be top 10% in consistency but mid-table in intensity.

What does the intensity score compare me to?

Your own history, not other people's weights or reps. If you usually squat 40kg and this week you hit 50kg, that's high intensity for you. If someone else usually squats 120kg and hits 130kg, that's high intensity for them. Everyone is measured against their own baseline, making it fair regardless of experience level.

What does my percentile mean?

Your percentile shows where you rank among all active members in your cohort that month. Top 10% means you're in the top 10% for that category. Rankings update daily.

Does my ranking reset every month?

Yes. Rankings reset on the 1st of each month. Previous months are archived. Each month is a fresh competition.

The Leaderboard

What if my cohort is too small?

If fewer than 10 members are active in your cohort that month, the leaderboard is locked. You'll see how many active members there are and a message that it unlocks once the threshold is hit. This prevents meaningless rankings in very small groups.

Can I see other people's workout details from the leaderboard?

You can see their rank and score. Detailed workout information (exercises, sets, weights) is only visible if they've shared that level of detail via their Squad privacy settings.

What if I switch to Solo mode?

You're hidden from the leaderboard but can still view it. Switch back to Social mode at any time to reappear.
